Middle school students across New York are gearing up for a groundbreaking opportunity as they prepare to compete in the National Civics Bee for the very first time during the 2023-2024 school year. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the organizing body behind the National Civics Bee, has selected Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce as an official partner to host a local qualifier for the New York State competition in 2024.

Greater Rochester Chamber is extending an invitation to its members to join in celebrating the civic spirit and intellectual prowess of local youth at the National Civics Bee qualifier event on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the MCC Downtown Campus. Register for the event here.

The National Civics Bee is designed to encourage young Americans to actively engage in civics and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8, the competition offers participants the chance to gain recognition for their civic knowledge and skills. Notably, contestants will vie for prestigious prizes, including a $1,000 cash prize for the state champion.

This inaugural event serves not only as a platform for students to showcase their civics knowledge but also as a testament to the importance of civic engagement within the community. By attending and supporting the event, participants will underscore the significance of nurturing responsible citizenship among the younger generation.
