Six Phillips Lytle Attorneys Named Senior Associates

 Buffalo, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP attorneys Samuel Borbor-Sawyer, Benjamin S. Cranston, James J. Doody, Julia J. Henrichs, Robert J. MacClaren and Steven B. Salcedo have been promoted to senior associate as of January 1, 2023.

Samuel Borbor-Sawyer
, a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, practices in the areas of business disputes and commercial litigation, including breach of contract and business torts. He has experience in federal and state motion practice, appellate practice, e-discovery, labor and employment matters, including Title IX, and internal investigations. His experience also includes successfully defending commercial insurance policyholders in high-exposure tort actions and providing counsel in matters requiring referees and receivers. 


Benjamin S. Cranston
is a member of the Family Wealth Planning Practice Group, concentrating his practice in the areas of estate and trust planning, including assisting clients with issues related to estate and gift taxation, elder law and Medicaid, as well as trust and estate administration. His experience includes preparation of customized estate plan documents for clients and representation of fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust administration matters. 


James J. Doody
is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group with experience in a wide range of practice areas. He focuses on litigation related to mass torts, product liability, commercial disputes and creditors’ rights. This includes breach of contract actions, business torts and other forms of commercial litigation. 


Julia J. Henrichs
is a member of the Land, Environment & Energy Practice Group, focusing her practice in complex commercial real estate transactions, with particular experience in commercial leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, and financing. Her experience also includes drafting condominium and planned unit development offering plans and amendments. Julia is a member of the Telecommunications Law Practice Team where she negotiates leases and other agreements for the deployment of wireless facilities, including macro sites, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cell facilities. She also represents tax lien purchasers, servicers and various municipalities across New York State in tax enforcement and has expertise in real estate workouts and litigation, including appellate practice before the Appellate Division and New York State Court of Appeals. 


Robert J. MacClaren
is a member of the firm’s Banking & Financial Services Practice Group, with a particular focus on low-income housing tax credit financing, including bond and conventional loan transactions. His experience also includes middle market and small business financing, including SBA and conventional financing structures. 


Steven B. Salcedo
is a member of Phillips Lytle’s Litigation Practice Group, focusing his practice on commercial litigation and government operations, including contract disputes, land-use disputes and challenges to the validity of state and local legislation.
