Monroe County Hazard Mitigation Plan available for review

date
November 29, 2022

On behalf of the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management, we are writing to inform you that Monroe County and its municipalities have been hard at work updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), and a draft of the plan is now available for Public Review.  The plan has provided an opportunity to detail 11 hazards that could affect some or all our residents and will allow us to remain eligible for future Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) funding from FEMA.

The HMP serves as a “blueprint” for our County and municipalities to use to help us make coordinated, cost-effective efforts towards reducing losses and becoming more resilient to natural disasters. The feedback stakeholders have provided throughout the planning process has been invaluable in developing the mitigation strategy and creating specific actions for each community to pursue to reduce losses and save lives.

The County is now seeking your help in reviewing the final draft of the HMP and providing feedback. The public comment period will remain open until December 23, 2022. The full, updated HMP is available for public review and comment at the Monroe County HMP plan website at https://www.monroecountynyhmp.com/.

All feedback provided will be reviewed by municipal, state, federal, and county entities, and incorporated, where appropriate. Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MonroeDraftHMP to comment on the Plan.

Monroe County and the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management thank you for helping us collect essential information to help us create a more resilient County.
