Rochester, N.Y. — LiDestri Foods Inc. announced today a $30 million investment is being made to advance production at its 1.5 million-square-foot Rochester campus in Greece, N.Y., ultimately creating a “super plant” with the latest technology and expanded capabilities to support a national growth strategy.
Headquartered locally, LiDestri is a leading strategic partner and manufacturer for U.S. branded and private-label food products, with the country’s largest market share of pasta sauces — producing millions of jars and containers of food items per day in Rochester.
The family-owned Rochester company was founded in 1974 and today employs more than 900 locally. The investment in upgrading and optimizing local production reaffirms its deep roots in Rochester and elevates LiDestri’s national growth strategy through consolidation and streamlined operations.
To efficiently optimize the expanded operations, employees will transition in phases from the company’s Fairport location to the Rochester campus between fall 2025 and fall 2026. LiDestri intends to retain all employees as well as ownership of the Fairport facility, with company leaders making plans to welcome a new manufacturing tenant under a lease agreement.
Driven by strong customer demand, new production lines will be added to focus on specialty items, kettle-cooked products, and automation for club-size packaging. A key component of the upgrade is the installation of a new retort cooking system for alfredo, queso, and other cream-based products, that is 40-percent larger, significantly faster, and capable of supporting a wider variety of packaging sizes. Retort cooking is an expertise of the LiDestri company and team.
LiDestri is the leading U.S. manufacturer of pasta sauce, dips, and salsa, producing signature products for most of the top 10 food companies in the country. LiDestri has earned national partnership honors for their intentional, innovative focus on product, process, and packaging — and, ultimately, taste. |
