Breast Cancer Coalition Announces Young Survivor Discussion Group

date
March 10, 2026

Rochester, NY – The Breast Cancer Coalition is pleased to announce a new program offering for those diagnosed with breast and gynecologic cancers under age 50. The Young Survivor Discussion Group will be offered in a hybrid format on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. It will be professionally facilitated by Christina Taillie, MS, LMHC, and Jeannette Connolly, LCSW.

A cancer diagnosis at a young age brings unique challenges – balancing careers, relationships, parenting, fertility concerns, financial implications, and long-term health decisions, all while navigating treatment and recovery. The Young Survivor Discussion Group will provide a welcoming and inclusive space for thoughtful conversation, shared experiences, and practical support. Each session will feature a guiding topic for discussion while leaving room for organic connection.

“As we expand our programming, we remain deeply focused on creating spaces where people feel understood and supported,” said Christina Thompson, Executive Director. “Young survivors bring unique perspectives and needs, and this new discussion group reflects our commitment to building community and connection for every stage of the cancer experience.”

Lindsay Eksten is an active participant in the Coalition’s programming. “In the chaos of a diagnosis, the Young Survivor offerings at the Coalition were my steady ground,” said Eksten. “Their programming turned a lonely search for answers into a shared journey of strength, proving that while we may be young survivors, we never have to survive alone.  I was thrilled to hear about the introduction of the Young Survivor Discussion Group - this is exactly the kind of space where shared journeys turn into lifelong connections. I’m honored to see this support being built for all of the young survivors.”

This important program offering has been made possible through the Nicole Greisberger Memorial Fund, established by Nicole’s friends and family in her memory after she passed away from breast cancer. The fund is dedicated to supporting programs that provide connection and support for younger survivors.
