Greater Rochester Chamber Releases Statement on NYSERDA Memo on Likely Costs of CLCPA Compliance

date

ROCHESTER, NY (February 26, 2026) – Greater Rochester Chamber has released the following statement today on behalf of President & CEO Bob Duffy:

“NYSERDA’s findings make it clear: New York State cannot reach both its CLCPA targets and pressing affordability needs. We urge our partners in the legislature to pass common-sense reforms to CLCPA timelines and regulations to avoid these significant cost increases for New Yorkers. Implementing thoughtful policies and addressing unrealistic timelines is a necessity to ensuring that communities here can afford to heat their homes while we invest in advancements to support our long-term climate goals. We thank Governor Hochul for the steps she is taking to address energy reliability, affordability, and practicality in New York State and look forward to continued collaboration to address this critical and urgent issue.”

This statement is in response to a memo recently sent to the Governor’s office by NYSERDA titled "Likely Costs of CLCPA Compliance,” outlining that those living upstate could see a $4,000-per-year increase in the cost of oil or natural gas, while those living in New York City could see as much as a $2,300 increase.
