Call for Volunteers for 2026 Special Olympics New York Winter Games

date
February 10, 2026

This year marks the second of a three‑year run for the Special Olympics New York Winter Games in Rochester, and M&T Bank is proud to support the event throughout its time in the Flower City.

Since the 1970s, the Winter Games have stood as a signature program of Special Olympics New York, offering athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to compete, grow and showcase their talents. More than a sporting event, the Games represent a powerful celebration of unity, determination and community spirit.

As Rochester prepares to welcome back athletes and families from across New York, M&T Bank is encouraging local companies and community members to join in supporting this year’s Games.

“Participation – whether through volunteering or by filling the stands – plays a vital role in creating an inspiring and memorable experience for the athletes,” said M&T Bank Rochester Regional President Steve Epping. “The collective support of our region, including our strong business community, strengthens the Games and helps reinforce the values they represent.”

Nearly 900 athletes will be traveling to Rochester to compete across multiple winter sports and take part in one of the largest annual gatherings of Special Olympics New York athletes.

“We look forward to showcasing the incredible dedication and talent of our athletes on one of the biggest stages of the year,” said Special Olympics New York President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman. “Rochester has been such a welcoming host city, and the support of local businesses and community members helps ensure the Winter Games continue to grow and thrive.”

Those interested in volunteering during this year’s games are encouraged to sign up here.
