Greater Rochester Chamber Releases Statement on NESE Pipeline Decision
NOVEMBER 7, 2025 (ROCHESTER, NY) – Greater Rochester Chamber has released the following statement today on behalf of President & CEO Bob Duffy:
"Finding solutions that strengthen New York State's power generation while providing additional energy through affordable and reliable channels is paramount to our State's future success. Governor Hochul's 'all-of-the-above' approach, with natural gas as a key component, is the only way for us to reach our economic goals and growth potential. This pipeline will help ensure New Yorkers can have confidence that our homes, businesses, and communities will have the reliable—and affordable—energy needed to power growth and opportunity. This is a practical, common-sense solution to a serious issue facing all of New York State, and we are proud to support the Governor's decision."
The Department of Environmental Conservation issued a state water quality permit for the Northeast Supply Enhancement pipeline Friday, intended to transport natural gas from Pennsylvania to serve markets in New York City and Long Island. Governor Hochul said in a statement she’s comfortable with DEC’s decision to approve the project based on an impartial review.
