“The Press Playbook: Media Relations Made Easy” Workshop Offers Practical Media Relations Skills on Sept. 25
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 16, 2025— The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Rochester Chapter invites local small business owners, nonprofit executives, and professionals looking to improve their communications capabilities to The Press Playbook: Media Relations Made Easy from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, 115 South Ave. The interactive, half-day workshop is designed to help professionals cut through the noise, collaborate effectively with editors and reporters, and secure meaningful, positive coverage for their organizations. To register, visit PRSArochester.org.
Led by veteran communicator Barbara Pierce, APR, the program will blend practical instruction with real-world examples. The goal is to help attendees to identify newsworthy stories inside their organizations; reach the right reporters at the right time; write concise, compelling releases; pitch interviews and photo ops; and build ongoing relationships with journalists and editors.
Pierce has more than 30 years of experience leading teams in corporate, advertising agency, nonprofit, and government settings. She has led numerous high-profile communications initiatives, including product introductions, crisis communications programs, fundraising efforts and special events on a global, national, regional and local scale. Her experience includes decades of working with local, national and international media – and she is committed to helping increase positive news coverage in Rochester.
“Reporters need factual, timely stories—and this workshop will show exactly how to deliver them,” said Wendy Boyce, PRSA Rochester President. “Attendees will leave with a plan they can put to work immediately to spread the word about their organizations.”
Registration is required at PRSArochester.org—$25 for PRSA members and $30 for non-members—and light refreshments will be provided. For any questions, contact info@PRSArochester.org.
