SEAC Executive Director Launches Himself Off Building in the Name of Community!
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Wednesday, June 25th, the Executive Director of the South East Area Coalition, Mike Evans, is rappelling twenty five stories down the Hyatt Regency Building. This will occur in the middle of the Rochester International Jazz Festival on June 25th at 2:00 PM. The heartstopping activity takes place at 125 East Main Street. This event is part of Over the Edge’s program that allows nonprofits to rappel down buildings in the name of their causes.
To support the growth of SEAC and its programs, a generous benefactor is matching all donations and pledges before 2PM up to $500! Mike Evans and the rest of the SEAC crew have a goal of raising $3,000 to continue to better the Rochester community.
Sarah Farmer, SEAC’s Board Chair, President of South Clinton Merchant’s Association, and owner of Wedge 23, praises Mike Evans’ dedication to the organization and his community. She says, “Under Mike's leadership, there has been a clear vision of SEAC’s mission and with that vision in mind he has built strong teams around him to accomplish those goals.”
When asked why he was putting his life in the hands of a safety harness and some rope, Mike Evans responded with, “I'm doing this because it's a really weird and unique opportunity to raise funds in a fun way and, more importantly, spread the word about SEAC and our amazing Tool Shed program. Getting our tools into the hands of those that need them is important and, if doing something like this accomplishes that, I consider it a win.”
Chris Taylor, the Convention Services Manager at Hyatt Regency said the Hyatt Regency members are very excited to support Over the Edge and help a new non-profit pickup their sponsorship.
