Child Care Council Names Rose Shufelt as New CEO
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 10, 2026 – Child Care Council Inc. announced today that its board of directors has selected Rose Shufelt to serve as chief executive officer. Shufelt has led the organization as CEO since July, providing continuity and leadership following the departure of former CEO Jeff Pier, who joined the Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester as president and CEO.
Rose Shufelt, MA, IMH-E®, who joined Child Care Council in 2004, previously served as senior community officer. Shufelt has worked in the early child care field for more than three decades, including in elementary school teaching, as a toddler and preschool teacher, child care center program director, and infant toddler specialist. She also previously served as the Council’s director of Health and Social Emotional Wellness, which encompasses a whole child approach to wellness.

Rose Shufelt earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and her master’s degree in adult learning. Her credentials include NYS Early Learning Trainer; TTAP Coach Credential Program for Infant Toddler Care Trainer; and NYS-AIMH Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health® as an Infant Family Associate.
