Rochester CEOs to Tackle the Risks—and Reality—of AI Already Inside Their Businesses
Employees are adopting artificial intelligence within organizations faster than leadership can establish appropriate policies and controls. Brooklyn Advisors will convene a small group of Rochester-area CEOs and business leaders on September 29 to discuss their approaches to this challenge.

The rapid pace of AI adoption is outpacing many companies’ governance frameworks. CEOs face competing pressures: the risk of falling behind technologically versus the risk of proceeding without adequate safeguards. Common questions emerging in organizations include data security risks, measuring genuine value, determining appropriate oversight levels, and identifying accountability ownership.
A 2026 survey by Writer found that “while 97% of executives said their company had deployed AI agents in the previous year, only 23% reported significant ROI from them.”
John Collins, Managing Partner of Brooklyn Advisors and former CEO, noted: “Every CEO I talk to is dealing with some version of this — an employee putting customer data into a chatbot.” He emphasized the need for leadership to understand “how to get the benefit without exposing the business unnecessarily.”
