ROCHESTER, NY
 – As athletes from around the world compete on the international stage at the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, the excitement is being felt right here in Rochester. The Arc of Monroe, which supports more than 1,500 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities across Monroe County, is bringing that same Olympic spirit home with its own Winter Ballantyne Olympics, taking place Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20 at its Ballantyne Day Services program.
Complete with opening and closing ceremonies, the Winter Ballantyne Olympics will feature a full slate of winter-themed events, including hockey, target shooting, curling, and bobsledding. Participants will have the chance to compete, cheer on their peers, and “go for the gold” in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Ballantyne is a specialized day services program that offers opportunities for people to learn new skills, build lasting friendships, and stay actively engaged in their community. The program supports the unique needs of aging adults, including people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
