Greater Rochester Chamber Releases Statement on Governor Hochul’s Vehicle Insurance Proposals

date
January 22, 2026

January 22, 2026 (ROCHESTER, NY) – Greater Rochester Chamber has released the following statement today on behalf of President & CEO Bob Duffy:

“Making New York State more affordable and attractive for employers is paramount to its continued growth. Greater Rochester Chamber appreciates Governor Hochul’s proposals to reduce car insurance rates for consumers across our state and battle fraud. Transportation is consistently cited as a barrier preventing hard-working individuals from connecting with employment throughout our region, particularly in areas not served by public transit. These proposals combat that issue by making it more affordable to own a car, which is critical to ensuring equitable access to job opportunity and economic mobility. We look forward to continued collaboration with our legislature to implement common-sense policies like these that create a better state for all.”

This statement is in response to Governor Hochul’s proposals to bring down the costs of vehicle insurance rates and tackle fraudulent claims. For details on these proposals, please see a detailed overview from the Department of Financial Services.
