August 4, 2025

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 4, 2025 – Child Care Council Inc. today opened a new outpatient clinic to meet the mental-health needs of children and adolescents.

Children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 can get help with a range of challenges, including ADHD; anxiety; behavior challenges; bipolar disorder; depression; change due to divorce or separation; grief and loss; OCD; relationship, family or school concerns; and trauma.

Child Care Council’s Clinic offers individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and medication-management services. It utilizes best practices and a research-based, trauma-responsive and inclusive team approach to enhance individual and family functioning.

“Child mental health is in crisis, as nearly 20% of young people suffer from a mental, emotional or behavioral challenge,” said Child Care Council CEO Jeff Pier. “Our new outpatient clinic will help address this crisis and help improve child and adolescent mental health.”

“Many people don’t realize that children feel stress and anxiety just like adults do,” said Christen Coco Guzman, LMFT, clinical director, Child Care Council Clinic. “Stressful life events can have a long-term impact on a child, as about 80% of chronic mental health issues start in childhood. Our clinic is designed to improve a child’s mental health through social and emotional skills, play and talk therapy, and other early interventions.”

The clinic, open Monday through Friday for both day and evening appointments, is located at 595 Blossom Road, Suite 202, in the city of Rochester. Services are available by appointment by calling 585.652.8080. Most major insurance plans are accepted, including Excellus, Fidelis, MVP, Optum (managed care only) and Evernorth.
