Harris Beach Murtha Welcomes Experienced Employment Attorney

date
October 14, 2026

(Oct. 7, 2026) — Kimberly K. Harding, an attorney focused on labor and employment counseling, employment litigation and labor relations, has joined Harris Beach Murtha as a partner.

Kim — a past recipient of the IGNITE Award from the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, which recognizes “unwavering excellence and leadership in their business or profession” — is an experienced resource for employers who firmly believe the right thing for the business and the right thing for its people need not be mutually exclusive. Her wholistic approach to workforce management — considering the implications of each individual personnel and strategic decision on the broader workforce — is highly valued by the human resources professionals, executives and in-house counsel with whom she works closely on workforce management issues, including reasonable accommodation requests, leave management, performance management, implementation of workplace policies, disciplinary decisions, wage-and-hour compliance, anti-harassment obligations, and non-compete and trade secret matters.

In addition to her practice counseling employers on day-to-day issues, Kim also routinely defends employers in litigation — before state and federal courts and administrative agencies — from claims arising under statutes such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the New York State Human Rights Law, the New York City Human Rights Law, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the New York Labor Law.

Kim, who will be based in the firm’s Rochester office, also considerably deepens the firm’s labor relations practice. Her capability with collective bargaining and related issues, including substantial experience with union election petitions and litigation of unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board, brings an additional resource not only for the firm’s unionized clients, but also for firm clients seeking to remain union-free.

“Kim is a strategic partner who thinks carefully about the intersection between a client’s people and its profits,” said Scott D. Piper, co-leader of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. “She is appreciated for her responsiveness, her practical counsel, and her ‘spirited’ defense when litigation unfortunately arises.”

Prior to joining Harris Beach Murtha, Kim led the national Labor Relations team for an AmLaw 100 firm. She also previously worked as an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of another AmLaw 100 firm.
