ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Arc of Monroe and The Arc Ontario are inviting adventurous community members to take fundraising to new heights at its inaugural Over the Edge rappelling event on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.

In partnership with Over the Edge, the world's premier urban rappelling company, participants will have the opportunity to rappel down one of Rochester's tallest buildings while raising funds to support programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Whether you're a thrill-seeker, community leader, or someone looking to conquer a personal challenge, Over the Edge offers an unforgettable experience with a meaningful impact. No previous rappelling experience is required. Professional rope access technicians provide all training, equipment, and safety support, making the event accessible to first-time participants.

Individuals can secure a rappel spot by committing to raise a minimum of $1,000 through the event's peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Local businesses and organizations are also encouraged to get involved through sponsorship opportunities, which include brand recognition and rappel spots for employees or leadership teams.

"Over the Edge is more than an adrenaline-filled adventure—it's an opportunity for our community to come together, challenge themselves, and make a lasting difference in the lives of the people we support," said Tracy Crosby, executive director of The Arc Foundation of Monroe. "Every dollar raised helps expand opportunities, promote inclusion, and provide vital programs that empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their fullest lives."

Supporters, friends, and family are encouraged to attend the event and cheer on participants as they descend the Hyatt Regency in downtown Rochester.

Registration is now open. To reserve a rappel spot, become a sponsor, or learn more, visit arcmonroe.org/overtheedge or contact Tyler Landries at (585) 808-4562 or tlandries@arcmonroe.org.
