August 20, 2026

Rochester, NY – Each month, the Breast Cancer Coalition hosts a webinar as part of the organization’s Evening Education Webinar Series. Focusing on a variety of topics related to health and wellness, the webinars are free and open to the public. On Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 PM, Iluminada Vilca, MSHP, BSND, SNAP-Ed NY Bilingual Nutrition Educator II, and Isaac Harris, PhD, will present “The Art and Science of Anti-Cancer Cooking.”

Vilca, from the Cornell Cooperative Extension, will provide an engaging demonstration on how to prepare simple, nutritious and budget-friendly recipes using fresh, locally available New York State produce at its August peak.

"Please join us! Discover how healthy eating can be both delicious and enjoyable while learning how food can reduce cancer risk through nutritious food choices,” Vilca said. “Together, we’ll prepare a refreshing vegetarian ceviche and a delicious peach smoothie."

Paired with each recipe, Dr. Harris will break down the science behind the ingredients, highlighting current research on their anti-cancer properties and how they may support overall wellness.

This session blends practical cooking tips with evidence-based insights, offering participants the “how” and the “why” of healthy eating. Vilca and Dr. Harris will provide accessible, actionable takeaways for cancer prevention and survivorship.

The Evening Educational Webinar Series is generously supported by the Lee C. Rosenthal Memorial Education Fund. ASL interpretation will be provided during the webinar. The 90-minute session will include at least 30 minutes for questions at the end. Register today at https://bccr.org/evening-education-webinars/ and submit questions in advance to rachel@bccr.org.
