Leveraging HR Services to Overcome Workplace Challenges: Developing Managers to Lead High-Performing Teams

date
August 17, 2026

Throughout this series, we’ve explored how workforce data helps organizations make informed decisions and build stronger teams. HR is the quarterback, developing the talent strategies that move the organization forward—but managers are the players who bring those strategies to life through effective leadership, communication, and employee engagement.

Greater Rochester Chamber's Leadership for Managers Training helps current and aspiring managers strengthen the skills needed to lead high-performing teams. Through five interactive virtual sessions, participants learn how to build trust, strengthen emotional intelligence, improve communication, motivate employees, navigate generational differences, and foster teamwork. The program is led by Bob Whipple, MBA, CPTD, an internationally recognized leadership and trust expert known as The Trust Ambassador®, who helps organizations build high-trust cultures that strengthen leadership effectiveness and business performance. The program begins October 2, 2026, and registration is open now, but space is limited.

In our next article of the series, we'll discuss why training budgets are a strategic investment, not an expense. It's similar to asking sports teams to compete at a championship level without the financing for a basic playbook, training, and coaching. Success requires continuous development.

Note: Incumbent worker training grant funds (IWT) may be available through RochesterWorks that could provide up to 90% matching reimbursement for preapproved, training-related costs, up to a maximum of $10,000. Our 3 training programs have been preliminarily reviewed and RochesterWorks confirmed they are eligible, so employers next need to apply and confirm they meet the eligibility requirements.  If you are considering doing a training with your employees, we encourage you to review the eligibility requirements and begin discussions with RochesterWorks at least 45 days before the training start date. Because grant application review may take up to 30 days, early planning is important.  Click here for more information.
