While Email Fraud Drained Billions from U.S. Businesses Last Year, OneRochester Firm’s Bet on Prevention Just Landed It on the Inc. 5000
Simple Tech Innovations ranked No. 2,430 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 with 136% three-year revenue growth after betting its growth on cybersecurity for compliance-driven industries, primarily healthcare, finance, and insurance
ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 11, 2026 - American businesses lost $20.9 billion to cybercrime in 2025, a 26% increase over the prior year, according to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. Business email compromise alone drained more than $3 billion from business accounts, most of it moved by wire transfer before anyone realized something was wrong. These types of losses rarely begin with anything dramatic, but usually manifest with a login that looks almost normal.
Pinpointing that moment is the business Simple Tech Innovations, Inc. (STI) has built, and it is why the Rochester-based cybersecurity and managed IT firm today announced it has been ranked No. 2,430 on the 2026 Inc. 5000, the annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list is the most prestigious ranking of the nation's most successful independent and entrepreneurial businesses. Past honorees include companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Chobani, Oracle, and Patagonia.
STI earned its place on the list with 136% revenue growth from 2022 to 2025, growth it achieved while turning down a category of revenue most IT firms depend on: the company no longer sells traditional hourly IT support to new clients, offering only all-inclusive managed services built around cybersecurity and compliance. Its client base is concentrated in healthcare, finance, and insurance, the industries attackers target hardest and regulators watch closest.
The company's approach treats email fraud, ransomware, and account takeover not as separate threats but as stages of the same attack. A criminal phishes an employee's credentials, logs into a cloud account from a device or location that does not match that employee’s workflow, quietly sets up rules to intercept invoices, and then the money moves or the network locks up. STI's around-the-clock monitoring is built to catch the intrusion at login, before it becomes a fraudulent wire transfer or a ransom demand. Ransomware was involved in 88% of breaches at small and midsize businesses in 2025, compared with 39% at large organizations, according to Verizon's Data Breach Investigations Report.
"A business owner doesn't need to understand the technology. They need someone watching for the moment their systems start behaving differently than they always have," said Andrew Hollister, CEO and founder of Simple Tech Innovations. "The companies losing money to these attacks aren't careless. The attacks are just built to look ordinary. Our growth tells us that owners and executives in all industries have figured out that prevention is a fraction of the cost of recovery no matter the size of the business." This year's Inc. 5000 recognizes a new class of companies redefining what growth looks like. Among the 5,000 companies on the list, the median three-year revenue growth rate was 130%, and those companies have collectively added more than 627,208 jobs to the U.S. economy over the past three years.
"Every company on the Inc. 5000 has a story of perseverance, smart decision making, and a refusal to sit still," says Mike Hofman, editor-in-chief of Inc. "Their growth reflects more than strong financial performance. It reflects creativity, resilience, and the customer focus required to build companies that make a lasting impact. We congratulate all honorees on this significant achievement." Inc. will celebrate the honorees at the 2026 Inc. 5000 Conference & Gala, taking place October 14-16 in Dallas, Texas, and the top 500 will be listed in the Fall issue of Inc. Magazine. Inc. 5000 List Methodology
