Breast Cancer Coalition Receives $65,000 in GrantFunding to Advance Health Equity Within the Hispanicand Latino Communities
Rochester, NY – The Breast Cancer Coalition has received $65,000 in grant funding to advance health equity for individuals impacted by breast and gynecologic cancers, with a specific focus on serving the Hispanic and Latino communities. A $15,000 grant from The Marilyn Lichtman Foundation and a $50,000 grant from Canandaigua National Bank will fund the organization’s community outreach initiatives aimed at serving these communities.
The Breast Cancer Coalition is in the second year of a three-year strategic plan that will build on the organization’s successes, elevate its impact and engage more deeply and intentionally with the community. With this recent grant funding awarded to the Coalition, the organization will have greater opportunities to enhance programs and optimize outreach in the region.
Arelis Aponte has recently joined the Coalition as the Bilingual Programs and Community Outreach Coordinator. She and Tori Toliver Powers, Grants & Community Liaison, are working throughout Monroe County to ensure that every voice impacted by breast or gynecologic cancer is heard, valued and empowered.
Maria Dominguez is a Breast Cancer Coalition board member and the Community Health Worker Coordinator at Ibero American Action League. “The generous grants from The Mailyn Lichtman Foundation and Canandaigua National Bank represent an important investment in health equity and our commitment to ensuring that Hispanic and Latino individuals affected by breast and gynecologic cancers have access to the support, education and resources they deserve,” said Dominguez. “We are grateful for these partnerships and excited to expand our outreach in ways that build trust, reduce barriers to care and improve outcomes for our community.”
