Downtown ROCs and Walking for Rochester Partner for Volunteer Cleanup Ahead of JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge

date
May 19, 2026

Rochester, NY — Downtown ROCs and Walking for Rochester are joining forces for a large-scale volunteer litter cleanup along the route of the 34th Annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge, taking place in downtown Rochester on Thursday evening, May 21.

The collaborative cleanup effort will take place from 5:30–6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 20, with volunteers working to remove litter and debris along the 3.5-mile race/walk course in advance of the event, which attracts approximately 5,000 participants annually.

To maximize coverage of the route, which begins and ends at Red Wings Stadium, volunteers will divide into two teams, one embarking from Exchange Blvd & Plymouth Ave, and the other from the Main Street Bridge. The initiative is being carried out entirely through volunteer efforts, with both organizations combining resources and community networks to help ensure downtown Rochester presents a clean and welcoming environment for participants, spectators, and visitors.

This year’s JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge will benefit Foodlink, the regional anti-hunger organization serving Rochester and the Finger Lakes.

“This is exactly the kind of partnership that strengthens downtown,” said Mike Gilbert, Executive Director of Downtown ROCs. “Walking for Rochester has built a strong reputation for mobilizing people around litter cleanup, and we’re proud to work alongside them on an effort that directly benefits thousands of people coming into the city for this major community event.”
