Greater Rochester Chamber releases statement on Unemployment Insurance announcement from Governor Hochul

Greater Rochester Chamber has issued the following statement in response to Governor Hochul’s announcement that the state budget will now pay off all of the $6.2 billion in unemployment insurance debt:

"Thank you to Governor Hochul for including over $8 billion in the New York State budget to eliminate our State's outstanding unemployment insurance debt. This will bring the businesses of all sizes throughout our State much needed relief. The massive cost savings associated with this will promote deeper investment in our communities and help businesses weather the storm of uncertainty at the Federal level," said Bob Duffy, President & CEO, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce. "Thank you to Assemblymember Harry Bronson and Speaker Carl Heastie for leading this effort in the legislature, bringing together labor and business groups to support this proposal which will benefit businesses and their workers alike. This is a huge win for New York State, and we look forward to seeing a finalized budget in the coming days."
