Rochester Downtown Development Corporation hosts Washington Square Community Workshop to shape future of public spaces

Rochester Downtown Development Corporate is excited to share that Project for Public Spaces has awarded a Community Placemaking Grant for work in Washington Square to facilitate small-scale temporary aesthetic and programming improvements. This grant supports placemaking efforts in Washington Square as outlined in the Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan and is facilitated by Project for Public Spaces.

RDDC will be partnering with the Washington Square Community Association and Project for Public Spaces, an internationally renowned planning and design non-profit dedicated to helping people create and sustain public spaces that build stronger communities, on this project.

Greater Rochester Chamber members and other community leaders are invited to a participatory Community Workshop on Thursday, May 2nd from 5 - 7 PM at 3 City Center's 1st Floor conference room. Attendees will learn more about the grant, timeline ahead, and share their ideas for Washington Square. This will be an engaging and participatory workshop. Bring your walking shoes as there will be opportunities for brainstorming on-site! This workshop is part of the first step of engagement in a community visioning process that will take direction from and build off of the Washington Square Community Association's 2018 charette: Washington Square Community Design Exploration: Phase I (Pre-Development) 2018
