Event to Spotlight Family Firm Leaders and Their Journeys to the Top

date
February 22, 2024

Guest post from Greater Rochester Chamber member St. John Fisher University

Successful Successions: Learnings from Rochester Family Firm Leaders and Their Journeys to the Top will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, in Cleary Family Auditorium in Kearney Hall. Attendees will hear panelists’ invaluable insights, lessons learned, and advice for families navigating the intricate process of succession planning. The program will include a networking cocktail hour and dinner.

“The panelists are industry and community leaders from firms where prior and current family leaders have worked together to develop and implement a generational transition plan that assures that their firms—and their families—will thrive in the future,” said Dr. Carol Wittmeyer, director of the Family Business Program at Fisher and visiting associate professor in the School of Business. “Come hear their stories, learn from their experiences, and leave with valuable takeaways for families embarking on transition planning. This is a unique opportunity to learn from the best in the business.”

Wittmeyer will moderate the panel, which includes Jack Doyle (fifth generation), president and CEO, Doyle Security Systems; Jon Spacher (fifth generation), co-owner and CEO, Fee Brothers; and Kate Hildebrandt (fourth generation), president and CEO, Leo J Roth Corporation. Alexandra Justis (fifth generation), director of marketing and engagement, Doyle Security Systems, is serving as the event chair.

“Each of us have navigated unique circumstances in our family’s business. It’s our privilege to share some of those successes and errors, with the hope they can help others find the most constructive path forward,” said Spacher.

Online registration is now open and closes on Friday, March 1 (also the last day to request a refund). For more information, email cwittmeyer@sjf.edu or call (585) 385-8238.
