Revitalize & Innovate Symposium to debut in Rochester, NY June 25-26, 2025
USC Builds welcomes national leaders to reimagine equitable, community-centered development
Rochester, N.Y., June 5, 2025—On June 25-26, 2025, Rochester will take center stage as it welcomes visionary leaders from across the country for the first-ever Revitalize & Innovate Symposium, a dynamic two-day gathering designed to spark bold dialogue, showcase transformative projects and accelerate inclusive community growth.
Hosted by USC Builds and sponsored by the City of Rochester, the Symposium kicks off with a networking reception on Day 1 during the Rochester International Jazz Festival, an energizing opportunity to connect with local and national changemakers. Day 2 will feature a powerhouse lineup of speakers, panel discussions and additional networking opportunities—culminating in a keynote address by Anthony A. Williams, former Mayor of Washington, D.C., renowned for spearheading one of the most ambitious urban revitalization efforts in recent U.S. history.
Day 2 attendees will examine groundbreaking projects from Washington, D.C., Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Rochester and beyond—each highlighting powerful models for equitable development, place-based innovation and community-led transformation.
“This isn’t just a conversation, it’s a call to action,” says Melissa Suchodolski, president of USC Builds. “We’re here to break down silos, build momentum and challenge the status quo. By spotlighting successful models from other cities, we aim to show what’s possible when public, private and community partners unite around a shared vision that puts people and place at the center of progress.”
The Symposium will bring together developers, civic leaders, nonprofit trailblazers, entrepreneurs and policy experts to confront the most pressing challenges in urban development—ranging from housing and economic mobility to infrastructure innovation and public-private collaboration.
“Rochester’s future depends on our willingness to think differently, collaborate boldly and act with urgency,” says City of Rochester Mayor Malik Evans. “The Revitalize & Innovate Symposium reflects our city’s commitment to lead from the front—learning from other cities while building our own blueprint for inclusive growth.”
