Underberg & Kessler Marks Centennial Milestone with Habitat for Humanity Donation
Rochester, New York, June 16, 2026 – As part of Underberg & Kessler LLP’s yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary, the firm announced a donation of 100 new hammers to Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity. The first hammer was presented during the organization’s 350th home dedication at 88 Sidney Street, bringing together two significant milestones and underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening communities and expanding opportunities for homeownership throughout the Greater Rochester region.
The donated hammer was presented to the homeowner by the Construction Site Supervisor, symbolizing Habitat’s handoff of the work ahead and the skills she gained throughout her homeownership journey. As she accepted the hammer, it served as a powerful reminder that she now carries forward the knowledge and confidence built during her time in the program.
The event featured remarks from project partners, recognition of the donation, and an opportunity to tour the newly completed home alongside the homeowner.
“For 100 years, the firm has been committed to helping people build strong foundations for the future,” said Patrick L. Cusato, co-managing partner of Underberg & Kessler. “Habitat's mission to bring communities together and build hope mirrors our firm’s focus on helping others. These hammers represent more than a construction tool; they symbolize partnership, hard work, and community. We are honored to support an organization that helps families create stability, opportunity, and a place to call home.”
Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization serving Monroe, Ontario, and Wayne counties. Since 1984, the organization has partnered with local families to construct affordable homes and provide critical home repair services. It also operates ReStores in Henrietta and Canandaigua, New York, where new and gently used furniture, building materials, and appliances are sold at discounted prices. Proceeds from these stores directly support the construction of affordable housing in the region.
"Today we celebrate much more than a home," said Kim Brumber, CEO of Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity. "For 350 families, Habitat has helped open the door to a brighter future. Every one of those doors represents a story of perseverance, partnership, and possibility. As we celebrate this milestone, we are also looking ahead and inviting our community to help open the next door."
