New Energy Works & Pioneer Millworks names Richard Alvarado Chief Financial Officer

date
January 30, 2023

New Energy Works & Pioneer Millworks based in Farmington New York with mills and offices in Portland & McMinnville Oregon name Rick Alvarado as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This addition of a CFO to the company management structure is the first in a series of planed leadership and governance changes as the company becomes 100% employee owned as an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) in 2023.

Rick Alvarado joins the two sister companies with an extensive 25+ year background in financial management and business administration in the manufacturing, technology, medical devices, and healthcare services industries ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small privately held firms. A graduate of the University of Rochester - Simon Business School, he brings his managerial skillset and financial leadership to the company as they transition to employee ownership.

“New Energy Works & Pioneer Millworks promote a culture filled with people who like what they do, take pride in what they do, and genuinely like the people they work with. When you put those elements together at a company you have the makings of something really special and I am excited to be part of that,” Rick said of the company. “I think it is great that this company operates on the triple bottom line philosophy of people, planet, and profit, because we have to be sustainable in business. Growth for growths sake is not what this company is about, success here is measured in terms of craft and building long-term relationships, and I believe that mentality is a tremendous asset moving forward.”

From their studio-shops and mills in New York and Oregon New Energy Works design, craft, and build sustainable timber frame custom homes, buildings, and high-performance enclosures throughout North America and Pioneer Millworks manufacture reclaimed & sustainable wood flooring, paneling, siding, and decking for the building industry.

Having long operated on the triple bottom line—a simple belief that people, planet, and profit work together to ensure a better future, the companies transition to a c-suite of executives and a board of directors is intended to ensure the environmental and social commitments the business was founded on 30+ years ago continue far into the future.
